i. So yesterday my computer crashed about 6 times in succession, and now it won't start up. I lost my final paper for Science Fiction Writing among who knows what else, so you can imagine how pleased I am about that. I'm pretty well fed up with Dell, overall, and I'm thinking about buying myself a MacBook for Christmas. Turns out I can afford one, seeing as I never spent any of the money I made this summer (I knew that government job had to be good for something; aside from the mark on my resume, of course).

ii. I have managed to find the only computer lab on campus open 24 hours. This means I'm mildly less pissed off about my computer but doesn't bode well at all for my sleep schedule. Bed? What bed? I think I'll just stay up all night! I can play more Runescape that way!

iii. I'm twitching at my own use of exclamation marks. I really dislike them an unreasonable amount. And, as for the link up there? I started playing that game because of my 13 year old brother. Sometimes, when we're both up playing at ridiculous hours of the night, we'll message each other to say things like "Guess what level my smithing is now?" or "You'll never guess what I just got from this noob PK." We are both enormous dweebs, but at least we've got each other. (We just confuse the rest of our family, really.)

iv. This is the same 13 year old who tries to coerce last_radio into playing Halo every time she comes over to our house, because he thinks it's funny that her big not-getting-shot strategy is to leap around the screen like a gazelle. He thinks it's even funnier to run her over with a tank when she's tries it. He's a bit of a nut, but at least his sense of irony is intact.

v. I want some apple juice. Like mad. There's a guy sitting across the lab from me who has an entire carton, and he's drinking straight out of it. That's pretty gross, actually, but I'm still jealous. Bugger it, I'm just going to have to find someplace that's open and buy myself some.

vi. I've been rereading the Half-Blood Prince and JKR doesn't half abuse ellipses does she? I guess if you're going to do a thing, do it ~~excessively~~ well. (I'm thinking of counting them, only there's enough of them in there that I think it'd take ages to do. And probably be more annoying than funny.)

vii. Guess I'll just make a habit of posting at 5 a.m. Seems to be the only time I think of it. Also, I'm going to be bored when I wake up (some time this afternoon) so in the spirit of using out-of-use memes (which is the only way I ever seem to do them):

So I told myself I wasn't allowed to use this journal until I had a fic finished and ready to post. Then came summer and a natural disaster and my mom getting me a job (and oddly enough all those things are related), and I wrote nothing for a couple months.

Actually, that's a lie. I wrote original pieces like a mad thing (for a scholarship which I panic over pretty routinely nowadays) and neglected my f-list like an equally mad thing.

But I am at least working on a fannish something now, so I say bah to all that and hello. :D Expect to see more of me around now, as I've decided it's sort of stupid to set up seperate journals for fandom and RL and then use neither.

I feel like I should take a moment to laugh at the post two down from this one. Ahah, three months, beat my own prediction.

(And, wow, I haven't forgotten that I owe drabbles to people. One of whom has actually left fandom in the time it's taking me to finish them. Go me. >.>)

Also, random question. Could anyone who has heard the song Build God, Then We'll Talk tell me what that string instrument is that plays in the last minute or so? Starts at about the three minute mark. It sounds like a cello to me, but I know nothing about music, so. And, yes, this is for a fic.

I am alive and officially done with first year. Good Christ, was that ever fun. >.> Between the fainting and attempting to burn down my dorm with an iron and being unable to present my final project (because my professor stood me up, how lame) and not knowing whether my pass/fail credits went through…well, let’s say summer is a welcome relief. I have a few pictures I may post later, if I can find where I packed my camera cable, of our studio and bits of my final Design project (ever – hurrah!) and me looking stupid at four in the morning.

Anyway, to celebrate, let’s do this. Comment with a prompt and I will write you a drabble. Though they likely won’t end up at 100 words, because that would require me being exact, and I’m feeling anything but. :D

I missed this meme the first time it went around, but I enjoy making fun of myself too much to not do it.

Top Ten Signs You Are Reading a Fic by deathofletters:

1. At least one metaphor involving a bird or a flower makes an appearance. The entire fic may, in fact, be a metaphor involving a bird or flower (or possibly a mollusk).
2. There is no dialogue, or very little.
3. There was a plot, but it got tired of waiting for the sentences to end, so it went home.

So, omgsubtext and I have a new project:
